Sage Seeds – Salvia officinalis

Sage is a hardy perennial herb grown for its aromatic leaves and excellent culinary qualities. Traditionally used in stuffing and as a delicious accompaniment to red meat, sage is also an attractive addition to herb and flower gardens.

Each packet contains approximately 50 seeds.

Planting Instructions

Sowing Time: Spring, Autumn and Winter
Position: Full sun with shelter
Soil: Well drained, light soil
Sowing Depth: Just below the surface
Spacing: 30cm apart
Germination: 16 to 20 days

Growing Tips

Sow directly into the final position in clumps, with the seed just below the soil surface. Thin out to the strongest seedlings, spacing plants approximately 30cm apart.

Sage is quite tolerant of dry conditions. Harvest leaves as required throughout the year, picking leaves before flowers appear. Leaves can also be dried for later use.

Perennial. Height to 60cm (2ft).
